My USAID participant will travel outside the US and will come back before the program end date. What do I need to do so he/she will not have any problem re-entering the US
There are some steps the organization/college/university and exchange visitor (EV) must follow so there are no problems encountered leaving or re-entering the country:
- The organization should have the EV bring their DS-2019 to the office overseeing his/her program.
- Create a cover letter on institution stationary indicating the student is in good academic standing and the reason for the travel.
- Using an overnight delivery service, mail the letter, DS-2019, and a pre-paid self-addressed envelope to USAID at EGAT/ED/TR. The travel will be endorsed by the RO or ARO, who will sign the DS-2019 form and return it to the exchange visitor, university, or organization. Send the documents to:
United States Agency for International Development | Ronald Reagan Building | USAID/EGAT/ED, Room 3.9 | Attn: Linda Walker | Washington DC 20523 | Phone: (202) 712-1786
Note: In order to ensure the timely return of the DS-2019 to the EV, please allow several weeks to carry-out the above-mentioned steps.
- When the EV returns to the U.S., he/she should make sure they are carrying the signed form.
